Verifoxx, a pioneer in privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), is proud to announce its selection as the winner to the accelerator stage of CivTech 10, Challenge 10.4, sponsored by the Scottish Government’s Chief Data Officer. This challenge was very competitive and focused on finding innovative solutions to make data sharing with the Scottish government more automated, seamless and secure to provide better public services and faster operational decisions.
Verifoxx’s winning solution is a modular framework that automates privacy-preserving data orchestration using multiple Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs). The solution includes a secure enrichment pipeline, a Zero Knowledge Orchestrator (ZKO) to create a virtual single source of truth, and a dynamic policy engine for customizable data governance. This framework ensures that sensitive data remains under the control of its owner, while enabling secure cross-sector collaboration and real-time data insights without compromising privacy.
"We are thrilled to be selected as the winner of CivTech Challenge 10.4, for the accelerator stage," said Roisin McCarthy, CEO of Verifoxx. "The Scottish Government is leading the way in understanding, testing and trialing innovation such as our privacy enhancing technologies. It’s a unique opportunity for us to collaborate and showcase how our technology can solve complex data sharing and reuse challenges while simultaneously partaking in the world class accelerator programme that CivTech has become.”
Tom Wilkinson, Chief Data Officer for the Scottish Government, said:
"Data reuse and collaboration is more than just secure sharing. Verifoxx’s privacy enhancing technology framework promises to not only enable safe and compliant data collaboration but also address key challenges like data quality, linkage, and governance. We’re excited to support Verifoxx in developing a solution that ensures highly sensitive public sector data can be used effectively to help improve operational efficiency.”
Amanda Hollis, Digital Transformation Manager, Justice Directorate, Scottish Government said:
“Data ethics and security by default are at the core of our ambition for a more data driven approach to data in the justice sector in Scotland. Law Enforcement data is extremely sensitive and we are pleased to be working with Verifoxx to explore how a highly secure solution using privacy enhancing technology could allow us to explore many diverse use cases using their innovative technology.”
A total of 14 companies, addressing 11 CivTech Challenges, have made it through to the final stage of the CivTech Accelerator, addressing a wide range of environmental, healthcare, and data related challenges facing the public sector. The winning companies will now spend the next few months working closely with their Challenge Sponsors to refine and develop their solutions, aiming to produce a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
For Verifoxx, this means collaborating with the Scottish Justice Team, as well as the central Data Division. The solution will help address complex data sharing needs within the justice sector, ensuring secure and compliant information flow across various organisations, while being generalisable to the wider public sector’s data.
CivTech Round 10 represents a total of up to £9 million investment from the Scottish Government. At the conclusion of the accelerator, participating businesses will compete for contracts ranging from £350,000 to £1.3 million.
